100 YEARS OF GENDER AND SOCIAL HISTORY OF WOMEN

1910 -2010 BALANCE AND FUTURE

The Organizing Committee call the 2nd International Feminist Congress to take place in the City of Buenos Aires from 19 to 22 May 2010.
This Congress is included in the commemoration of the 1st International Feminist Congress of Argentina in 1910 and the Bi-Centennial of the May Revolution of 1810 and the anti-imperialistic struggles in Latin America and the world.
The aim is to evaluate the 20th century in relation to the advances and setbacks which the lives of women have suffered in the world in order to plan our future endeavours. The historical importance of studies about women and gender are theoretical, while it is evident that women’s struggle against oppression is part of the real and definite national independence and the social freedom of peoples.
The Committee will consider the proposals covering this objective, in its local, regional and/or international dimension and the evaluation of the historical perspective of the last 100 years.

The Congress will include round tables of papers, reports of collective experiences by their protagonists and open debate forums. The call is for all the women of the world who share the Congress’s general objectives and who are willing to offer their research and experiences as instruments for political action and proposals to continue the struggle for equality and the social emancipation of women.
